Grand Retreat in Town

Do not book this property!! Positive: The size of the property was technically good for our family but was in such a poor state that we could not enjoy it. Of course we chose this house for what we thought would be a good location. With more experience we would choose somewhere closer to the river. Negative: As soon as we entered the house we could see that the property is poorly maintained and hardly cleaned. Out of 24 wooden venetian blinds 11 are completely unusable and visibly broken. The kitchen items are totally mismatched and dirty - cutlery pathetic. The ensuite bathroom is disgusting with patches of rotting wood and mould. Water constantly pours from a pipe sticking out of the back wall. Owners were contacted but there was no interest. The ensuite bathroom shower can not be turned off and therefore runs all day and night. Heater filter is not accessible so therefore not cleaned and does not work well. The outside area is filthy with full rubbish bins and old cigarette butt on the table. Outside not swept.There are rules posted all around the house for us to follow but clearly no rules apply to the owners responsibility to provide a clean functioning house to paying guests. Booking.com needs to check this property. I use booking.com whenever I travel and this is the worst place I have ever stayed in.

Absolutely fabulous Positive: It was amazing

Comfortable and clean Positive: Comfortable home. Easy walk to local shops and in to town. Very comfortable, cosy beds. Negative: Very badly leaking shower head in the ensuite. Mentioned to owners, so hopefully it will be fixed before the next guests arrive.
